Christine Nypan works as a performing and creative dance artist based in Oslo. She has background from X-Ray youthclub in the 90s, and has furthered her practice in street and club dances in Paris and New York where she is part of the NYC based female housedance crew MAWU. She is a member of the Cre8 dance crew (Dancing Youth) and the co-founder of MUD Sessions Oslo who works to promote the house dance culture in Oslo through open sessions and club nights.
She has a formal dance education from France and a MA in choreography from National Academy of the Arts Oslo.
Chriz has collaborated and worked with choreographers and companies such as: Mia Habib, Elle Sofe Sara, Sudesh Adhana, Frikar, Deep Down Dopeizme, Jens Trinidad, Membros ( BR), Tentacle Tribe (CA), Viktor Frojd( SW), Marika Peura(FI) Rapahelle Delauney (FR), Leela Petronio(FR) and Tishou Aminata Kane(FR) etc.
Chriz has been part of establishing the street dance education at Edvart Munch Secondary school. Chriz has won and been a judge for battles in Norway, Sweden, USA, France and more.
Chriz has received the State Artist Grant in 2020 and again in 2021-2025
She has performed collaborative dance pieces at Dansens hus Stockholm, Urbfestival Helsinki, Inkonst Malmö, Dansens hus, Scenehuset, Urban Moves and for Den Kulturelle Skolesekken.
As a dance artist Chriz is interested in exploring the bodies singular, instinctive and inherit musicality.
To work from the body as a container of history and as a mediator and translator of experiences.
