Nod is a collaboration between three Nordic dance artists: Marika Peura from Finland, Christine "Chriz" Nypan from Norway, and Viktor Fröjd from Sweden.
NOD aims to transport the audience into a universe of seeing and experiencing movement from the inside out. With presence in time and space, it seeks to create a focus for both spectators and dancers that makes it possible to get closer to the essence of dance. Allowing it to take time. To see and see again. To come close. Letting the danced process on stage not only be visible and audible—but felt.
How do you do if you believe there is more to extract from the art form you have trained in? What happens when a body trained in a social dance culture, a world of showcases and battles, begins to use its art and movement language to pose other questions?
On stage, we encounter three dancers with streetdance backgrounds in urgent need of challenging space and time, using their culture and language to explore questions that are usually reserved for those working in contemporary dance and performing arts. They deconstruct, shake up and stretch the components, arrange them into new forms, and approach movements as if they were researchers investigating their own heritage.
